The Original Bad Stormy

Here are some shots of bad Stormy herself. The cat who doesn't even like me. I tried to get her at her most unflattering. But she's still cute darnit.

These Things Grow Anywhere

Here is a picture of the purple verbena I talked profusely about on a post from the other blog. They grow anyhwere and live through anything. If you need a pretty, flowering plant that will withstand hot, Texas summers, this is the one for you.

Albert's Release

Back in November, we found Albert. He is a baby three toed box turtle, and I took him as bona fide proof that backyard habitats work. It was very cold on the day we found him and he was in a small patch of sun trying to warm up. We brought him inside and contacted a turtle expert on what to do next. He advised me on how to take care of him, and he flourished throughout the winter. This is him on the day we found him.

I took him yesterday to a nearby park and walked about a mile back on a trail. I knew exactly where I wanted to release him. I think he was pretty stressed on the way out there because he just found a corner of his box and stayed there. Once I found the perfect spot, I took an after picture of him in my hand to compare how he's grown

He was very excited I think to be out in the wild.

This is his new home

It is much better than where he was. Coming back to my car, I saw this Blue Heron taking a bath in the puddles by the picnic tables.

Beginning My Virtual Move

I have kept a blog on this subject for about a year at this site. http://my.bhgnaturesgarden.com/bng/persona.jsp?&plckUserId=38307d23bbc78312c5e680d58479b175&userId=38307d23bbc78312c5e680d58479b175&plckPersonaPage=PersonaBlog
I have decided to move and try to stand on my own 2 feet. At this link, you can read about our adventures with Hurricane Ike, see what interesting birds we have found in our backyard, find out who Albert is and what we are going to do with him, search to find all of our pets, and check out our monarch "hatchery".
On this site, I will be continuing our backyard wildlife adventure to a move that is not virtual! We are in the process of relocating our family and we want to start over on a much bigger canvas! First, we must meet some common needs:
1. I have to find a job in new place
2. Hubby has to find a job in new place
3. We must sell house in old place
4. We must find the blank canvas that is perfect for us

And we want to do this by August. Our house is not even on the market yet. But I have a feeling it will all work out.
